Senior Marlena Welsh, who will lead the midfield this season, is coming off a 2010 campaign in which she received Second Team IWLCA All-Mid Atlantic Region honors. In the midfield, Rutgers returns a solid group of athletic veterans. The Scarlet Knights will also look to another group of veterans to help increase the production in the attack as senior Katie Marino, junior Danielle Macsera and sophomore Amanda Trendell will be relied up to make positive contributions to the offensive unit this year. She scored 15 goals (nine assists) in the attack and will look to pick up where she left off, adding proven depth on the offensive end. ![]() Junior Annie McGinley also had a solid year before injuring her knee in the 11th game. Anderson tallied 25 goals (12 assists) last year, while Watts added 14 goals (one assist). Senior Kristen Anderson and junior Lindsey Watts will lead the attack along with a number of “go-to” juniors and sophomores. The Scarlet Knights return 17 letterwinners, including eight starters from a team that finished 11-5 overall. Rutgers also had a number of individual successes as senior midfielder Marlena Welsh and sophomore goalkeeper Lily Kalata were two of four Scarlet Knights to earn All-Mid Atlantic IWLCA honors. The Scarlet Knights enjoyed a solid campaign in 2010, closing out the year ranked 18th in the final IWLCA Top-20 Poll. The Scarlet Knights have an experienced and well-rounded group of upperclassmen, as well as the addition of nine talented freshmen to help bolster a team in pursuit of a successful 2011 season.
